Caresouth’s new headquarters are a testimony to their strength as an organisation, the vision of their founder Jim McEwan – and also the benefits of the Early Engagement design and construct process for buildings like this.
Caresouth first engaged Cyclo for the initial design and development application process, and then we took part in a tender process, but there were some more twists in the plot before we were finally given the green light to get on with it. We were able to work to a set budget from the earliest concept sketches and land it within 5% of that figure when it was complete – and if it wasn’t for some nasty latent conditions, it would have been exactly on the original budget.
It is also an example of what can be achieved when there is a high level of trust between organisations – trust that is built up over the 10 years or so we have been working with Caresouth. Contracts, documentation, consultants and oversight are all necessary part of what we do, but none of them can replace the confidence you have when you know a company is going to do the right thing by you.
We sincerely hope that Caresouth continues to grow and be successful in the critical work they do in strengthening the fabric of society.
